Ich gehe davon aus, dass LUTHARO (Facebook) aus Kanada die Metalwelt ein wenig aufwirbeln werden, denn die Band hat einen eigenwilligen Mix aus verschiedenen Metal-Genres geschaffen. Daher fällt eine Kategorisierung unheimlich schwer. Im Prinzip ist es eine moderne Mischung harten melodischen Metals mit verschiedenen Einflüssen. Was man in diesem Fall darunter verstehen kann, das werdet ihr hier im Review erfahren.

Man könnte die Musik von LUTHARO mit Damaststahl vergleichen. Harter Metal, der aus vielen Schichten geschmiedet ist und am Ende ein hartes und scharfes Stück Musik präsentiert, dass sich wunderbar präsentiert und von der Masse abhebt.

Die Single „Time To Rise“ umfasst ganz gut, worum es beim Sound von LUTHARO geht. Der Sound wandelt zwischen gnadenloser Härte, weicheren Schmeicheleien und mitreißender Power. Ja, der Mix mit extremen und cleanen Vocals ist nichts neues und das Verweben von „hart“ und „zart“ hört man häufiger. Man kann die musikalischen Zutaten nicht neu erfinden, aber letztlich ist der Mix entscheidend, ob es sich von der Masse abheben kann. Und tatsächlich schaffen es LUTHARO eine besonderen Sound zu erschaffen, der die Band einen großen Schritt weiterbringt.

Der Song startet aufsehenerregend brachial mit krachenden Leads. Doch dann wird es zunächst entpannter, sowohl gesanglich als auch instrumental. Kurze Zeit später zündet Song plötzlich voll durch und die Band lässt den Hammer kreisen. Sängerin screamt sich die Seele aus dem Leib. Dazu gesellen sich im Hintergrund noch orchestrale Synhties, die eine leichte epische Aura entfachen. Für Puristen, die eher eine knallharte konsequente Linie beim Metal bevorzugen, dürfte das nicht unbedingt die Erfüllung sein. Aber entscheidet doch selber…

Deftig und geschmackvoll

Auch wenn „Time To Rise“ ein gutes Beispiel für den Sound von LUTHARO ist, so muss gesagt werden, dass die Songs sich aber keineswegs vom Aufbau her gleichen. Immer wieder werden die Karten neu gemischt und man darf gespannt sein, was in den nächsten Minuten auf einen niederprasselt. Man findet hier Einflüsse von Heavy Metal, Death Metal und Symphonic Metal. Alles zusammengemixt für eine abwechslungsreiche deftige Speisekarte, die von deftiger Schärfe bis schmeichelnden Gaumenfreuden alles zu bieten hat. Vor allem das harte Riffing in Verbindung mit den melodischen Leads und ausgezeichneten Soloeinlagen sorgt neben dem unerbittlichen Drums für heftiges Kopfnicken. „Ruthless Bloodline“ bietet dafür z.B. eine infernale Show.

Hier möchte ich aber einen kleinen persönlichen Kritikpunkt anbringen. Ich mag zwar auch den Mix von cleanen und extremen Vocals, aber für mich darf es auch gerne mal nur eins von beiden sein. So hätte ich mir im Rahmen des Soundkonzepts auch den einen oder anderen Song ganz ohne cleanen Refrain gut vorstellen können und demgegenüber auch Songs mit nur cleanem Gesang. Dafür möchte ich auf „Time To Rise“ verweisen und die letzten Momente im Schlußtrack „Freedom Of The Night“, die zeigen, dass auch die geruhsamen melodischen Vocals wunderbar klingen. Ansonsten kann man die Band für ihre Songs nur abfeiern. Die Band hat unheimlich viel Potential, um sich in alle Richtungen austoben zu können. Es kommt nicht einmal der Moment auf, wo man einfach auf die Skip-Taste hauen möchte.

Die Band hat verdammt viel zu bieten

Ich hatte auch bereits die symphonische Komponente angesprochen. Songs wie das fantastische „Bonded To Blade“ nutzen dieses Element beispielsweise phasenweise etwas intensiver. Man sollte also keine bombastischen orchestralen Sound erwarten. Er ist hier als atmosphärische Komponente zu hören anstatt als tragendes vorherrschendes Element. So schaffen es LUTHARO einen kohärenten Sound zu generieren, der zu jeder Zeit schlüssig und mitreißend ist.

Süßer die Glocken nie klingen….“Creating A King“ lässt in einem wilden Angriff die Fetzen fliegen, bleibt aber immer auf hochmelodischen Kurs. Das musikalische Schwert wird kunstvoll geschwungen und landet immer wieder Volltreffer. Es ist auch ein gutes Beispiel für die hervorragenden technischen Fähigkeiten der Band. Zwischen dämonischer Raserei und epischen Refrains wird hier ein knallhartes flammendes Inferno geboten.

Fazit

LUTHARO brennen mit „Chasing Euphoria“ ein leuchtendes Metal-Feuerwerk ab. Es ist laut und hat viele heftige Knalleffekte, aber es ist auch mit verdammt vielen schönen Melodien versehen. Alles zusammen erstrahlt in verschiedenen Facetten und sorgt für feurige Begeisterung.

I assume that LUTHARO (Facebook) from Canada will shake up the metal world a bit with their new album „Chasing Euphoria“, because the band has created an unconventional mix of different metal genres. Basically, it’s a modern mixture of hard melodic metal with various influences. You can find out what that means in this case here in the review.

You could compare the music of LUTHARO to Damascus steel. Hard metal that is forged from many layers and in the end presents a hard and sharp piece of music steel that presents itself wonderfully and stands out from the crowd.

The single „Time To Rise“ shows quite well what the sound of LUTHARO is all about. The sound wanders between merciless heaviness, softer flattery and rousing power. Yes, the mix of extreme and clean vocals is nothing new and the interweaving of „hard“ and „soft“ can be heard more often. You can’t reinvent the musical ingredients, but ultimately it’s the mix that determines whether it can stand out from the crowd or not. And indeed, LUTHARO manage to create a special sound that takes the band a big step further.

The song gets off to a sensationally brute start with crashing leads. But then it becomes more relaxed at first, both vocally and instrumentally. A short time later, the song suddenly ignites and the band lets the hammer rousing around. The singer screams her heart out. This is joined by orchestral synths in the background, which create a slightly epic aura. For purists who prefer a hard-hitting, consistent line in metal, this might not necessarily be the fulfillment. But decide for yourself…

Hearty and tasty

Even though „Time To Rise“ is a good example of LUTHARO’s sound, it has to be said that the songs are by no means the same in terms of structure. The cards are shuffled again and again and you can be curious to hear what will come crashing down on you in the next few minutes. There are influences from heavy metal, death metal and symphonic metal. Everything is mixed together for a varied, hearty menu that offers everything from savory spiciness to flattering delicacies. Above all, the hard riffing combined with the melodic leads and excellent solo interludes, as well as the relentless drumming, make for a lot of headbanging. „Ruthless Bloodline“, for example, offers an infernal show.

However, I would like to make a small personal criticism here. I also like the mix of clean and extreme vocals, but for me it can also be just one of the two. Regarding the sound concept, I could have imagined some songs without a clean chorus and, on the other hand, songs with only clean vocals. I would like to point out „Time To Rise“ and the last moments in the final track „Freedom Of The Night“, which show that the calm melodic vocals also sound wonderful. Apart from that, the band can only be celebrated for their songs. The band has an incredible amount of potential to let off steam in all directions. But one have to admit that there’s never a moment when you just want to hit the skip button.

The band has a lot to offer

I already mentioned the symphonic component. Songs like the fantastic „Bonded To Blade“, for example, use this element a little more intensively at times. However, you shouldn’t expect a bombastic orchestral sound. It can be heard here as an atmospheric component rather than as a predominant supporting element. In this way, LUTHARO manage to generate a coherent sound that is consistent and captivating at all times.

Hells bells….“Creating A King“ lets the shreds fly in a wild attack, but always stays on a highly melodic course. The musical sword is wielded skillfully and always lands a direct hit. It is also a good example of the band’s outstanding technical skills. Between demonic frenzy and epic choruses, a hard-hitting flaming inferno is offered here.

Conclusion

With „Chasing Euphoria“, LUTHARO set off a brilliant metal firework display. It’s loud and has lots of heavy banging effects, but it also has a hell of a lot of beautiful melodies. Everything together shines in different facets and ensures fiery enthusiasm.
